Drone façade inspection and documentation
Drones can document façades through overview and detail photographs. Visual inspection of cladding, joints, transitions and accessible building details provides a basis for further professional assessment.
What do we capture?
RGB photographs can show visible cracks, discolouration, damage and surface changes. Systematic capture helps locate observations by façade and floor. The images record visible conditions; they do not establish structural capacity or the condition behind cladding.
How can the data be used?
Property managers and contractors can use the documentation to plan maintenance and target further investigation. Before-and-after photographs help compare completed work. A qualified specialist must assess causes and suitable repairs.
What can we document?
- Cracks and fissures in render, masonry and concrete
- Spalling, weathering and loose render
- Rot, splits and peeling paint on timber cladding
- Damaged or missing joints and sealant
- Rust staining, frost damage and concrete deterioration
- Discolouration, damp stains, efflorescence and vegetation
- Damage to balconies, railings, windows and flashing
- Loose cladding panels, tiles and façade elements
- Condition records before refurbishment, repainting and neighbouring construction work
Drone images show visible signs. Causes, extent and remedies must be assessed by a relevant specialist.
Deliverables and models
An agreed image set can be accompanied by a summary of observations. With a dedicated capture plan, photogrammetry can produce a 3D model of visible surfaces; occlusion, reflections and gaps in coverage limit the model.
